1. Do you take insurance?
HMO's will not pay for homebirth midwifery services. If you have a
PPO, they will usually pay for our services - we are considered an "out
of network provider". If you want to know what your insurance is likely
to cover, simply call your insurance company and ask them these two
- I am seeing an out of network provider, what is my coverage?
- Are there any exclusions?
2. Do you give a discount if you don't have insurance?
We can't give discounts just for paying in cash (that's illegal) -
but we do have a HUGE discount if the fees are paid before the birth!!
Other discounts may also be available (if you have AHCCCS, or if you
hire a student midwife for the majority of your care, for example.)
We can discuss this at the initial interview.
3. What is included in your global fee?
All of our care - all prenatals, the home visit, the labor and delivery,
the postpartum care, the newborn care - is included in the global fee.
What is NOT included in the fee are any labs/tests performed, ultrasound,
the birth kit (which runs about $40), any herbs/supplements, and any
possible physician consultations.
4. Do you have "office hours"? And what if I need a midwife on an
evening or weekend?
We do in-office prenatal and postpartum appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays,
and Thursdays - and the 36-week home visit is always on a Wednesday. For
questions and concerns that come up with our clients, we are available for
you to call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We ask that you keep all
non-emergency questions for daytime hours (8am-8pm) - but if you are having
a concern or need us for anything, we are ALWAYS available by phone!
What if I have other questions?
Please feel free to contact us with
any questions. We'd love to hear from you.
