A Mother Shares a Prenatal Visit and Birth Story

Tracie Halliday is an extraordinary mother who invited us to assist her along the journey of her pregnancy back in 2010. Unknown to me, she blogged about her experience during a typical prenatal visit with us…..
She shares in her own words what the prenatal care at NHBS is like…including pictures….

As I read this…I had to chuckle out loud at the line, “we are also building a great rapport which helps a lot when you consider that at the end of this ride I am going to be spending hours with these ladies in my home waiting for the baby to make her appearance.” Why did that make me laugh? Oh the irony of that line……
She also was generous enough to share her birth story (including pictures). How long will I spend at her home waiting for the baby to make her appearance? Read and see….

Thank you, Tracie, for sharing your most important days with us……..and thank you for sharing your family with us and the world.

Wow her inner monologue sounded exactly like mine with baby number two. “On that contraction I had the following conversation with myself, “I feel like pushing! I am NOT supposed to feel like pushing. I couldn’t possibly be more than 5 or 6 cm. at this point and if I push against an incomplete cervix it’s going to cause swelling and impede my labor! Tracie! You HAVE to hold it together…you are losing it. Losing it? Of COURSE I’m losing it! There’s NO WAY I can do this much pain and intensity for hours and hours more! What if I feel like pushing for hours? Can I DO that? What are my options really? I HAVE to do it at this point. There’s no turning back! HOLY CRAP! HERE COMES ANOTHER FREAKING CONTRACTION!! OKAY…blow it away Tracie! Pant! Don’t push!”
That is exactly the conversation I had with myself 20min before my baby was born. So nice to relate to her. Thanks for a lovely birth story and the prenatal description was dead on, Tracie could have been speaking for me in most of her story lol.
